According to Mediaite, the election lawyers for Kari Lake, the unsuccessful 2022 Republican candidate for governor of Arizona, are facing disciplinary action for their efforts to overturn the election results. Kurt Olsen, Bryan Blehm, and Andrew Parker have been issued probable cause orders by the Attorney Discipline Probable Cause Committee, indicating that investigations into their conduct will likely lead to public discipline.
These lawyers had previously been sanctioned by judges in Arizona regarding Lake’s challenge of her November 2022 loss to Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs. The basis for the state bar’s investigations includes cases related to Lake’s election challenge and efforts to force a hand count of ballots. The lawyers are accused of making false claims in court, particularly focusing on the assertion that “35,000 ballots were added to the count” for Hobbs’s victory.
But there is a war that’s happening against our republic. And I mean, I think that’s a fair assessment. I think there was a coup when they stole our election in Arizona,” Lake continued, repeating her claim that her election was stolen, which has been debunked by several investigations and GOP-led audits.
“There was a coup and a takeover of our state government. The people, the people’s will was it was taken from them when they when they rigged an election and they installed people in our state government who were not duly elected. And this is why I continue to fight every day
Potential penalties for the lawyers could range from probation to reprimand or disbarment. Despite the ongoing investigations and legal challenges, Kari Lake, who is now the leading GOP primary candidate for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, has not backed down from her rhetoric on election denial. She continues to assert that her election was stolen, a claim debunked by multiple investigations and GOP-led audits.
In a recent interview with a far-right outlet, Lake described the situation as a “war not being fought with bullets” and insisted that there was a coup when the election was allegedly stolen. She maintains her stance that the election results were rigged, leading to a takeover of the state government. Despite the debunking of her claims, Lake remains adamant and continues her fight, positioning herself as a staunch defender of what she believes was the people’s will.
