Two significant writers released from WWE

WWE has released 2 influential names from their writing team in Steve Guerreri and Steve Oppenheim last week, according to reports from Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Out of these two, Guerreri had been with the company since 2012 and he had been the co-lead writer of SmackDown Live since 2014.

He led the home team of the Blue branded show which operated from WWE HQ in Stamford, CT. This is the second major change to SmackDown’s writing team after Road Dogg was removed from a similar position of the traveling team.

Similarly, Oppenheim who was the RAW in-office lead writer had been working with the company since 2011. In addition to his work on Raw, he also worked on the creative for main event.

Regarding both these firings, Pwinsider notes that it had nothing to do with the new Creative Directors and the call to release them came from Vince McMahon.
