Undertaker & The Rock Royal Rumble Rumors Leak

Roman Reigns successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against the YouTube sensation Logan Paul in the headlining match at WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event ins Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Logan certainly garnered some more fans after showcasing some great moves inside the ring. He exceeded the expectations of the fans and took The Tribal Chief to his limits. At one point, ‘The Maverick’ hit a Frog Splash from the top rope through the announcers’ table on Reigns. However, that came at the cost of multiple injuries.

Following the match, ‘The Maverick’ tweeted that he suffered a torn meniscus, MCL, and potentially his ACL as well. However, Dave Meltzer noted during his latest Wrestling Observer Radio that they still don’t know if he has a torn ACL, because they haven’t had it looked at by a doctor yet. He also further stated, although Logan Paul will be out for a while given his other injuries, a torn ACL would certainly keep him out longer. This puts Paul on a recovery timeline where he will miss WrestleMania 39. Reports had also suggested that Logan Paul vs John Cena is the current plan for WrestleMania 39.

It seems that is no longer happening now. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE decided to change plans for Paul and not have him face Cena simply because of the time it would have taken for Paul to get ready for the match.

The worry about Logan Paul is, the feeling is you need lots and lots and lots of practice and John Cena doesn’t have the time to do that practice. Cena can go with Theory and Theory is experienced enough, so they don’t need lots and lots of practice to have a decent match.

Meanwhile, The Rock is slated to make his return to the company soon to set up a match against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. There is speculation that he might return Royal Rumble this year. While, he has been slated to be involved in WrestleMania 39, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 39 is not set in stone.

While speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Roman Reigns talked about The Rock being unable to get ready for WrestleMania and Royal Rumble. He defended The Great One for the same, as it takes a lot of conditioning to get ready for in-ring competition:

“I believe he just came out with a statement saying that he’s not gonna be ready in time, which, that’s the face that everyone’s making, like, ‘Hold on! He trains every single day. He’s huge!’ In his defense, it’s one thing to train with weights, the bodybuilding, the look, the part… but, to be able to get in the ring and do a main event match, a championship match, it takes a lot of conditioning, it beats up your body.

So there’s more that goes into it than training in the weight room. It’s a professional athlete type of situation where you have to condition. He does two out of three things perfectly. His nutrition and weight training is on point, but you have to condition yourself, you gotta be ready to fall down.”

Xero News teased The Undertaker appearing at WrestleMania, but said he’s not booked for the Royal Rumble.
