Update on Linda McMahon Running for the Senate, 2010 WWE HOF Changes

– WWE has moved the 2010 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to the Dodge Theater in Phoenix for March 27th, 2010. The new building has a capacity of 5,500 seats so WWE is scaling down from previous years. The show was originally set to happen at the US Airways Center. The official blurb for the building reads like this:

“Sharing a name with its American auto-maker sponsor, the Dodge Theatre is one of Phoenix’s newest and most up-to-date entertainment venues, and attracts a wide variety of acts to perform in this desert oasis, from Jack Johnson to David Bowie. The Dodge Theatre was designed to be an arena for live performances of all stripes, hosting musical concerts, comedians, Broadway-type theater, family shows, boxing, and business conventions in a smaller, more intimate space (with a relatively small, 5000-person capacity). It boasts a cutting-edge sound system, a great central location, plenty of parking, and the flexibility to handle most any event in town worth seeing.”

– In a statement issued on its corporate website Friday, WWE confirmed that CEO Linda McMahon is contemplating a run for the United States Senate. She would challenge incumbent democrat Chris Dodd in the 2010 race.

“Linda McMahon, CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, is considering a run for the United States Senate representing the state of Connecticut. Should she decide to run, Linda would step down as CEO, and Vince McMahon would assume the duties of CEO in addition to his current position as WWE Chairman,” read the statement.
