On Saturday evening, Vivek Ramaswamy responded to an attack on him by former President Donald Trump which sent on the brink of the crucial Iowa Caucus vote in the GOP primary.
After Ramaswamy shared a photo on X of himself with supporters wearing shirts that said “Save Trump, Vote Vivek,” the businessman and candidate was slammed by a top Trump adviser who called him a “fraud.”
Within some time, Trump opened fire on Ramaswam for essentially the first time in the race, in a Truth Social post calling him “deceitful” and “sly” and most harmfully to any potential for defections from Trump, said he is “not MAGA.”
Not long after the Truth Social post, the candidate posted on X the same statement his campaign sent to Mediaite.
“I respect the hell out of Trump. He’s the best President of the 21st century. I’ve defended him at every step against the unjust persecutions,” said Ramaswamy, who has vowed to remove his own name from the ballot in any state that forces Trump off. “But OPEN YOUR EYES to the hard TRUTH: this system will stop at nothing to keep this man away from the White House.”
He restates that premise in the video attached to the tweet.
“Just because it’s wrong doesn’t mean it won’t happen & we owe it to our nation to take America-First forward,” his statement concludes.
The replies on X calling him a “Soros guy” and “not MAGA” may indicate the argument isn’t landing with MAGA.
