Asuka’s inclusion in the triple threat TLC match for the Smackdown Women’s title at TLC was definitely a surprise. Fans were elated over this. However, they did wonder why Asuka got this opportunity in the first place.
According to Fightful, The Empress of Tomorrow is getting the push because of the reaction she got from fans when Becky Lynch stood in front of her during the segment where Becky Lynch was choosing her Survivor Series replacement.
Vince McMahon was said to be “caught off guard” by the fact that Asuka received a bigger reaction than Charlotte Flair did. Hence, the decision was made to give Asuka a renewed push.
It is uncertain whether this push will last long. But if WWE goes with its initial plans concerning Becky Lynch, things will take an interesting turn, to say the least.
Becky Lynch will be defending her Smackdown Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair and Asuka at WWE TLC on December 16th.
