WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sara Lee. As a former “Tough Enough” winner, Lee served as an inspiration to many in the sports-entertainment world. WWE offers its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and fans.

Sara’s mother, Terri Lee had written the following in her Facebook post:

“It is with heavy hearts we wanted to share that our Sara Weston has gone to be with Jesus. We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete. We ask that you respectfully let our family mourn. We all need prayers especially Cory and her children.”

Lee was married to former WWE star Wesley Blake (Cory Weston). Lee won the sixth season of the Tough Enough competition and earned a one-year contract with the WWE in 2015. She’d have her first match under on the NXT brand during a house show on Jan. 30, 2016, and would go on to wrestle seven more matches before being released by WWE in September of that year.

Lee was chosen by fan vote as one of the winners, along with Josh Bredl, earning a $250,000 one-year contract with WWE. During the final, Lee adopted the ring name Hope, and lost a singles match to Alicia Fox. She made her in-ring debut at the January 30 live event during a six-Diva tag team match, which also involved fellow Tough Enough competitor Mandy Rose. On September 30, 2016, Lee was released from her WWE contract.

Former WWE star Bull James organized a GoFundMe for the former NXT star with the goal of raising $20,000 to aid the family in this time of need. The fundraiser was even shared on Twitter by Alexa Bliss and has raised over $11,000 in just a few hours.
