WWE Cancel Hiring Of Ex-World Champion After Sale

FightfulSelect.com reports that several WWE talent that Fightful have spoken with have claimed there’s a “hiring freeze,” and have speculated everything from Vince McMahon’s return to a potential sale being the reasons. Nobody that they have spoken to have explicitly been told there’s a hiring freeze, yet it’s a term that constantly emerged.

There was interest within WWE concerning Jay White, Brian Cage, Nick Aldis and the Authors of Pain, however it was noted that “sources that we spoke with indicated that AOP were already in talks with WWE in 2022, before Vince’s return.” It was also noted that “Triple H was high on Nick Aldis, but he was one fo the many left out in the cold when McMahon returned.”

The return of Vince McMahon as the Executive Chairman of WWE was a strategic move aimed at selling the company, and it succeeded as WWE was acquired by Endeavor, the parent company of UFC, within just three months. While many fans were unhappy with the sale, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair believes that the company will be more successful with McMahon back at the helm.

Endeavor now owns the majority of WWE, and the merger between WWE and UFC has created a $21 billion company. The implications of this massive move will be felt in the coming months. UFC President Dana White has expressed confidence in the deal and believes that it will help to expand the fan bases of both promotions.

During an episode of his podcast To Be The Man, Flair shared his thoughts on the merger and emphasized the importance of keeping McMahon involved in the creative decision-making process. He expressed his hope that the McMahon family would continue to run WWE, stating that if they don’t, the company may not be as successful.

“I just personally hope that the McMahon family… he is still allowed to run the WWE. Because god forbid we have another situation where Turner buys the NWA. That turned into the worst case scenario ever.

It all depends on who’s ego, who’s doing what. But if they don’t keep Vince involved and let him help them make creative decisions, I don’t think they’ll be as successful as they would be with him. People say they’re upset with Vince. I didn’t see anybody upset with him.

There’s always gonna be people that are complaining about their position in the company because they’re not where they want to be or they think they should be, but that’s not the fault of Hunter or Vince. Some people have a pretty high opinion of themselves that they should keep to themselves, rather than complain publicly, in my opinion.”

Flair went on to address the issue of complaints from some WWE employees regarding their positions within the company. He suggested that some individuals may have a high opinion of themselves and should keep their grievances to themselves rather than airing them publicly. Ultimately, Flair believes that McMahon’s involvement in WWE is crucial to the company’s success, and that he should be allowed to help make creative decisions moving forward.
