Injuries are an unfortunate yet common part of the wrestling world, often leading to significant downtime for WWE superstars. Currently, Sonya Deville is on the path to recovery from a torn ACL, with recent updates indicating an extended period before her potential return to the ring.
Deville achieved a significant milestone in her WWE career on July 17th when she and Chelsea Green secured the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Regrettably, her triumph was short-lived, as she suffered a torn ACL during a match against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair on the July 28th episode of WWE SmackDown.
In early August, the former Tough Enough contestant underwent a successful surgery for her knee injury. Despite prospects for a complete recovery, there is no definitive timeline for her return, with typical recovery periods for a torn ACL ranging from six to nine months.
Notably, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Deville’s recovery process appears to be progressing slowly, suggesting a potential sideline period of approximately 9 to 10 months. This setback has interrupted the momentum that Deville and Chelsea Green were building as Women’s Tag Team Champions.
