WWE Downplays Speculation On Shane McMahon Taking Executive Role With The Company

The New York Post posted an article regarding Shane McMahon’s return to WWE and the possibility him taking an executive role with the company. A media executive who works in the wrestling industry said the following to The Post:

“Shane’s digital, international and a helluva performer. I’ve never heard anyone who’s worked with him say a bad word about him.”

WWE responded to this statement and downplayed McMahon possibly joining the company in a management role by saying Shane is just “playing a character on a TV show.”

Keep in mind that Triple H has full control of booking in NXT as well. It sounds like Vince’s creative direction is the one you’re taking issue with.

Well I give Triple H credit on getting the talent there. That’s a start. However in terms of what to do with once they get there, that’s another story. That is where Shane could come into play. I would like to see people like Scott Hall and Jake behind the scenes in creative. I think both guys have proven that they have turned the corner in their lives and can be counted on.

Don’t forget the mind behind NXT, Triple H. The one who has been reaching out and giving us all this wonderful talent: Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Nakamura, Samoa Joe, the list goes on. Makes me wonder what roles both guys will play going forward, and which son will inherit the company.

It’s going to happen eventually. Shane can’t just up a quit a company he founded. He’s been gradually taking less and less responsibility with You on Demand taking on smaller roles. I can see that eventually he is going to take over WWE. It’s just not going to happen right after Wrestlenmania or perhaps even this year. I think the writing is on the wall that if WWE is going to survive Shane needs to be the man running the company.
