Just an hour away Scott Stanford and Peter Rosenberg are standing at a podium as Stanford states tonight is set to be a “horror show”. Rosenberg agrees adding that tonight will be “especially horrific”. The clock countdown in the right corner of the screen shows 58:06 as the two begin to discuss the “Swamp Match” between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman set for tonight.

We are reminded that the show is streaming tonight on the WWE Network at 7:00 p.m. EST before heading into a match line-up breakdown!

The United States Championship is also on the line as Apollo Crews hopes to retain the title in his match against MVP who is looking to prove he still has what it takes to walk into the ring, then walk out with a title in hand.

Next to be announced is the Extreme Rules Kickoff Show Match recently added which is set for Kevin Owens to take on Murphy after a long brewing feud.

Then finally, the Swamp Match that is set to take place between the “monster among men” Braun Strowman who will go home to the swamp to take on his “creator” Bray Wyatt.

Podium Discussion With Scott Stanford and Peter Rosenberg

The video breakdown ends and we return to the podium with Scott Stanford and Peter Rosenberg discussing The Swamp Match between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. Stanford notes that Strowman had a maniacal look in his eyes on Friday Night SmackDown when he took on John Morrison, stating he was kicking off the Horror Show earlier and he hopes Bray was watching.

Rosenberg counters as he states that Bray Wyatt has the advantage in this match-up as he has more control the further they get from the ring and the fact it’s in the swamp. Both men agree that Braun Strowman going home to take on his “creator” is a match for the history books and not to be missed. With that, we head into the promo for Braun Strowman.

Swamp Match Promo Video Package

The promo starts off with Braun Strowman voicing over discussing his original status in the Wyatt Family as we see a black and white clip of the swamp. A highlight reel of Braun Strowman’s accomplishments air as the story continues, Bray Wyatt stepping out of the shadows stating Strowman looks like he’s seen a ghost as Wyatt is dressed in his former Wyatt family get-up.

“I created you Braun, therefore it is my duty to destroy you,” Bray shouts. “I’m ready to walk through the gates of hell to slap the devil himself,” Braun responds then finishes, “I have to go home, and end him. Before he ends me.” Bray and Braun laughing maniacally ends the package.

They also discuss the Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt story. Booker T says he knows Braun Strowman may fear “going home” after finally being free from Bray Wyatt. JBL states he’s never seen anyone that has the strength, speed, and athleticism of Braun Strowman. JBL adds it is necessary for Braun Strowman’s status in the WWE.

Peter Rosenberg and Scott Stanford Podium Discussion (continued)

We Return To Peter Rosenberg and Scott Stanford who also discuss the much anticipated match between Bray and Braun. Rosenberg believes Bray has the advantage while Stanford disagrees, stating he believes that Braun will come out the victor.

Braxton welcomes the SmackDown Tag-Team Champions, The New Day who will be defending their titles against Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro in a Tables Match. Kofi and Big E are in the middle of a four hour long thumb wrestling match that they call a “tie” on so they can focus on Braxton’s questions.

Kayla asks how they prepared for the Tables Match that Cesaro and Nakamura set for Extreme Rules this evening. Kofi states to truly understand the table, you must become one… with the table. Big E eating off tables Kofi sleeping on tables. Big E says you have to be inside the wood, to allow the wood to be inside you. Kofi and Big E then welcome Brother Devon!

Devon says, “Testify!” Kofi states that The Dudley Boys have put everybody through tables to which Devon replies that they even put New Day through tables. Big E and Kofi brush the comment off as Big E says, “Why you bringing up old stuff?” Devon moves on, “What pretell, is the key to your success when it comes to putting your opponents through tables in your matches?” Devon responds, “It’s quite simple, you put your opponent… through a table.”

Like they just received secret information, they “testify” and state they will in fact, put their opponents through tables! Why? Because… New. Day Rocks. New. Day Rocks. Devon swivels his hips alongside Big E and Kofi Kingston as the three chant together, “New. Day Rocks. New. Day Rocks.”

Podium Discussion Continued

We return to the podium where Rosenberg says it’s an all out strength question when it comes to who will win the match between New Day and Nakamura with Cesaro. Rosenberg says it could be anyone. Bayley and Sasha Banks are the next to be discussed as we are sent into the video package highlighting Bayley and Sasha Banks reign in WWE.

Video Package – Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler

The video package for our WWE Championship bout of the evening between Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler airs. The match, which still has yet to announce the special stipulation, is up next here at The Horror Show At Extreme Rules.

WWE Title Match
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

After the video package wraps up, we head back inside the WWE PC where Dolph Ziggler makes his way down to the ring. Out next is the reigning title-holder coming into the contest, Drew McIntyre.

Both men are in the ring now and the ring announcer does the formal pre-match introductions as McIntyre stands with a look of confusion on his face awaiting to hear what stipulation will be added to this match, where his title will be on-the-line.

Following the official introductions by the ring announcer, Ziggler gets on the mic and brags about being smarter than Drew. He says this WWE Title match will be under “Extreme Rules,” but for Dolph Ziggler only. If McIntyre runs away and gets counted out, Ziggler wins the title. If he gets purposely disqualified, Ziggler wins the title.

The bell sounds and this one is now officially underway. Ziggler immediately runs out to the floor and goes under the ring. He grabs a foreign object and blatantly blasts Drew as he comes out after him. Drew ends up using his size and strength advantage to establish the early offensive lead in this one regardless, until once again Ziggler uses a weapon blatantly to turn the momentum in his favor.

Once back in the ring, McIntyre takes over on offense again, as the rules are only benefitting Ziggler in spots thus far. Drew clotheslines Ziggler over the top-rope and out to the floor. Ziggler shoves McIntyre face-first into the ring post and then yanks him pony-tail first into the plexiglass near the ringside barricade. “The Show Off” grabs a table from under the ring and sets it up on the floor right outside the ring.

McIntyre goes out after him and punches Ziggler before hoisting him up for a suplex. He nearly suplexes Ziggler through the table, however on his way down he realizes what that would mean and moves just in time, suplexing Ziggler on the regular mats surrounding the concrete floor around the ring. The action resumes inside the squared circle where McIntyre hits a nice fall-away slam before taunting Ziggler, saying “I can do this all night!”

As Ziggler slowly crawls up McIntyre’s body, once prone on his feet again, he blatantly blasts “The Scottish Psychopath” in his Scottish family jewels before heading out to the floor to retrieve a steel chair. Once he has said-chair, Ziggler returns to the ring and bashes it across McIntyre’s back over and over and over and over and over again. He tries covering him after about five or so chair shots, but McIntyre is still able to get his shoulder up before the referee’s hand hits the mat three times.

On the floor, McIntyre nails Ziggler with a belly-to-back suplex. He takes Ziggler up on top of an announce table near the ring looking to hit him with another one. Instead, however, Dolph knocks Drew off the table and leaps off after him, nailing him on the way down with a Fame-Asser. Back in the ring, Ziggler leaps on McIntyre’s back at the perfect time, locking in a sleeper hold that brings the WWE Champion down to one knee. He eventually gets back to his feet, where Ziggler throws him into the ring post from inside the ring — twice. McIntyre nails Ziggler with a clothesline that turns “The Show Off” inside out.

Both men are down now. Ziggler rolls to the floor. Drew goes out after him. Drew slingshots Dolph face-first into the plexiglas near the ring barricade. The action gets back in the ring where McIntyre hits Ziggler with a reverse-Alabama Slam with authority. The fans stomp and clap sensing the finish for Drew. He calls for the Claymore Kick and goes for it, but Ziggler catches him coming in with a steel chair shot. He follows that up with a Zig-Zag for a pin attempt, however he only gets a count of two.

Ziggler sends McIntyre out to the floor. He puts him on the table that was set out earlier in the bout. He heads back into the ring and climbs up to the top rope. Ziggler jumps up — real high — before flying out to the floor where he lands on top of McIntyre with a flying elbow smash that puts him through the table violently. McIntyre is down and the ref begins his count. Remember if he is counted out, he loses the title. He ends up making it to the ring just before the count of ten.

McIntyre hits one of his semi-finishers once back in the ring, however moments later Ziggler nails him with a Fame-Asser and a Zig-Zag before blasting him with one final high spot. He covers him, but Drew still somehow finds a way to kick out before the count of three. A frustrated Ziggler shouts out, “Why won’t you die?!?!” He continues to lose his cool, looking around the ring at all the weapons. He ends up clearing the ring of said weapons before letting out a war cry as the announcers hype up something big.

Dolph shouts that it is his time as he waits for McIntyre to make it back to his feet. He is slamming his foot down in the corner, ala Heartbreak Kid waiting to land Sweet Chin Music. As Drew slowly starts to get back to a standing position, Dolph loads up for a super kick but walks right into a Claymore Kick that McIntyre threw out of nowhere with lightning-like speed. He covers Ziggler and scores the pin, retaining his title despite the odds being stacked against him with the unique stipulations Ziggler set at the start of the bout.

Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Drew McIntyre

Wyatt Swamp Fight
Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman

With the WWE Championship match in the rear view mirror, it’s time to head to the first-ever “Wyatt Swamp Fight” between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.

The video package for the second match in a row between former Wyatt Family allies at a WWE pay-per-view wraps up, and it’s now time to send things to the latest “Cinematic experience” produced by WWE.

We head to the Wyatt Swamp Fight location and it doesn’t take long before mind games and general oddness starts taking place, with Wyatt benefiting and Strowman suffering.

Wyatt has Strowman down early and is talking about how things used to be and how they didn’t have to get to where they are today. He uses mind games against Braun, distracting him with old Wyatt Family references.

Next, we see Wyatt point out something or someone approaching Strowman. It looks like someone holding a giant snake. The snake strikes right at the camera, seemingly signifying that Strowman was attacked.

Strowman is duking it out with someone other than Wyatt now, although he is having his way with him. Strowman takes the man out near a camp fire that is blazing in the background. The man ends up catching on fire and running around in flames while Strowman laughs like a psycho as if he’s enjoying it.

From there, we see the screen cut away and when it returns, we see another figure approaching or calling out to Strowman. This time, it appears to be Alexa Bliss. She talks about how she knows he’s always had feelings for her and teases him with the thought of enjoying the life together she knows he has always wanted.

Clips from them working together, such as in the Mixed Match Challenge Series, are shown, as Bliss, dressed up like Sister Abigail, continues to taunt/haunt Strowman’s imagination.

This leads to the fight breaking out between Strowman and Wyatt again. This time, they brawl near a swamp and we see Wyatt using all kinds of tricks. Finally, Strowman beats him down and throws him in the swamp. He stands and stares before finally thinking it’s over. He even says as much.

Then out of nowhere, Wyatt pops back up from the swamp after the screen almost seemed to be fading out to end the show. Things get going again, however this time, when Wyatt disappears, he resurfaces as his alter-ego, “The Fiend.”

The Horror Show at Extreme Rules 2020 goes off the air with a close-up of the face of “The Fiend” mask as we hear evil laughter. (This will likely build up to the rumored third and final bout between Wyatt and Strowman, with Wyatt facing “The Monster Among Men” as his “Fiend” persona for the Universal Title at WWE SummerSlam next month. This was never officially announced on the PPV, however.)

*That will do it for our live coverage. Thanks for joining us and make sure to stop back by on Monday night, July 20, 2020, for LIVE WWE Monday Night RAW results coverage, featuring the fallout from The Horror Show At Extreme Rules 2020.*
