The EVP of AAA, Dorian Roldan, appeared on Busted Open Radio today to talk about various topics. During the interview, he confirmed that Alberto Del Rio will not be working any upcoming dates for AAA.
The situation between Del Rio, AAA, and WWE is tricky, according to Roldan, but AAA does wish him good luck in WWE. He said that Del Rio’s WWE contract is not what is being reported. To be clear, Dave Meltzer said that Del Rio’s contract with WWE was $1,450,000 per year downside with a reduced schedule. WWE would then issue a statement claiming it was less than $500,000.
AAA is looking for a new AAA Champion and they will have a tournament to crown a new champion in December.
He said that Del Rio is forbidden to drop the AAA Championship thus the reason Del Rio had to vacate it and a tournament being set up.
