WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN RESULTS (3/27): ORLANDO, FL.

The Road to WrestleMania 36 continues when Friday Night SmackDown kicks off LIVE from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL.

Show Opening

Are you ready for a good time? The open package is shown as tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown kicks off for the March 27, 2020 episode, only a week away from Wrestlemania. We are welcomed to the WWE Performance Center by Michael Cole.

Cole reminds the WWE Universe that The Miz and John Morrison are set to defend their tag team titles at Wrestlemania. He then announces that The New Day vs. The Usos battle tonight for their chance at the tag team title match at Wrestlemania.

Also Alexa Bliss and Asuka go one-on-one tonight. We re-visit Roman Reigns vs. Triple H at Wrestlemania 32, later tonight. Finally, Cole announces that Bray Wyatt addresses Wrestlemania opponent John Cena at the Firefly Funhouse, tonight. With that, we go to the ring as Bayley’s music sounds.

Bayley and Sasha Banks In-Ring

For our first match of the night, Sasha Banks makes her way to the top of the stage accompanied by good friend and WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. Banks music plays as both women make their way down the ramp and enter the ring.

Bayley with a mic in hand begins, “Well Sash, here we are, a little over a week away from Wrestlemania…” Bayley continues on to point out that Wrestlemania is where the best of the best compete on the grandest stage, where anything is possible.

Bayley’s tone changes as she says this Wrestlemania for herself and Banks is a nightmare, thanks to Paige. Paige putting Bayley in a Fatal Five-way Elimination Match, due to jealous. Bayley goes on to say that Paige thought she was slick adding Sasha Banks to the match, but their plan is going to backfire. Bayley declares she and Banks are best friends, peanut butter and jelly, better together, no separation… Banks says nothing.

Lacey Evans music sounds as the Southern Belle makes her way to the ring with a mic in hand. Evans smiles as she makes her way between the ropes and enters the ring with Bayley and Sasha Banks. Lacey starts off saying Bayley’s mouth is about as big as Lacey’s hat is. Lacey then notes that Bayley talks so much, her best friend Sasha can’t get a word in edgewise.

Bayley responds saying she has a word for Lacey, loser. Sasha then chimes in, saying Lacey should preach to someone who will actually listen, like her bratty little kid. Sasha then adds, “Unless she’s ashamed of you…” Then adds, (mocking a child’s voice) “Mommy why do you keep on losing?” both Banks and Bayley begin laughing.

Evans mock-laughs along with the two, then states Bayley is right, Wrestlemania will be a nightmare for the two of them. She then adds Banks won’t be able to say Evan’s child’s name after she breaks Banks’ jaw with the Woman’s Right. Evans continues on saying she will beat some respect into Banks, when Naomi’s music sounds in the arena.

Naomi dances her way down the ramp and enters the ring, standing next to Lacey Evans. Naomi tells Evans she knows she’s with her, at least until they take down Bayley and Banks. Naomi goes on to say she has unfinished business with Bayley after the mess she pulled at Super ShowDown. Naomi then turns to Banks and says it’ll be a bonus when she snatches the blue wig off Banks head and becomes the three time SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Bayley then talks over the women saying this isn’t going to be one of those nights where everyone interrupts everyone and hits their music… she’s interrupted as Tamina’s music sounds. The Powerhouse Tamina makes her way to the ring, entering with the other four women already standing together. Tamina stands in the middle of both.

Tamina simply states, “Actions speak louder than words.” Tamina then attacks Naomi with a Headbutt then a Superkick to Lacey Evans. Bayley and Sasha Banks take the opportunity to stomp Naomi. Tamina pulls them back, Bayley nervously states, “I got your back… see ya at Wrestlemania.” Both Bayley and Banks stutter and stammer as they exit the ring nervously.

Michael Cole announces Drew Gulak goes against Nakamura next and if he wins, Daniel Bryan receives a title match against Sami Zayn at Wrestlemania. With that we go to our first commercial break!

Video Clip

As we come back from commercial break, a video clip is shown from last week’s tag-team match of Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak vs. Cesaro and Nakamura, then the match agreement made backstage by Daniel Bryan and Sami Zayn for tonight’s match between Drew Gulak and Nakamura.

Drew Gulak vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Out first for this match is Drew Gulak, accompanied by Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan rubbing Gulak’s shoulders as the new friends make their way down the ramp towards to the ring. Gulak holding Bryan’s Wrestlemania fate in his hands.

Next, music sounds for Shinsuke Nakamura as he makes his way to the ring accompanied by Cesaro and Sami Zayn as the arena lights are dimmed and beams of red light flash around the Performance Center. Nakamura’s music cuts as the referee pushes Zayn back stating, “that’s enough” as he trash talks Bryan.

Sami Zayn walks over to the announcer’s table as he’s apparently a guest commentator for this match up according to Michael Cole. The bell rings and the match begins. Sami Zayn states he didn’t have to tell Nakamura anything for tonight’s match up. Exploding out of the corner, Gulak takes down Nakamura. Cole asks what happens if Gulak wins, “Why would you say that? Why would you put that into the Universe?” Zayn asks Cole.

Gulak driven into the announcer’s table by Nakamura. Bryan makes his way towards the two as Cesaro helped Nakamura moments ago. Gulak turns things around as he works on the leg of Nakamura. Gulak with a stomp to the back of Nakamura in the corner of the ring. Zayn shouts he needs the referee to do his job. Nakamura off the second rope with a knee and goes in for a cover. Gulak kicks out.

Michael Cole states that after weeks of calling out Asuka, Asuka attacked Bliss from behind. Alexa Bliss will finally get her opportunity to enter the ring with Asuka, tonight. Also Bray Wyatt will come to us from the Firefly Funhouse later tonight.

With that, we go to commercial break once again.

Michael Cole Ringside

As we come back from commercial, Michael Cole discusses the feud between Dolph Ziggler and Otis that began when Ziggler stole Otis’s date, Mandy Rose, on Valentine’s Day. Cole then sets up for the video clip from last Friday’s SmackDown where during a match, Ziggler interrupts, showing pictures of Ziggler and Mandy Rose during their date, which sent Otis in a downward Spiral.

Backstage

As the video clip ends, we see Dolph Ziggler backstage. The static circle of lights flashes then back to backstage with Ziggler. Otis runs at Ziggler as he states Ziggler doesn’t deserve Mandy. Otis states, “Just give me a chance!” Ziggler says he wants to fight with the world watching, and his girl Mandy watching… at Wrestlemania. Otis agrees as he’s still being held back.

Hello, I Am Elias…”

Elias is seen sitting on a perch above the (would be) crowd his name in lights behind him. Elias reminds the WWE Universe that Gronkowski wants to see Elias go up against King Corbin. Elias says he couldn’t agree more, but first he would love to sing “Kingdom of Fools” for Corbin. Elias says he knows it sounds silly, but he asks us to clap along at home, as he starts to strum…

“Wrestlemania, is too big for one night. After I destroy Corbin, he’s going to see the light. At Wrestlemania, King Corbin’s chances of winning are narrow. So, bring your medieval costume and a bow and arrow. I stock up on toilet paper in these times of distress, and I stamped your face on every roll, I must confess (picture shown) That may seem harsh, but it’s the least of what you deserve, your throne’s a toilet, and Baron, you are a turd. I said your throne’s a toilet, and you are a turd.”

As Elias is giving his thank yous, King Corbin attacks from behind shouting, “You think it’s funny to embarrass me? You think it’s fun and games?” Elias is hanging from the perch, King Corbin ultimately makes Elias lose his grip and falls to the floor below, though we don’t see the actual fall. Corbin is smiling from above.

Referees and WWE officials are shouting for help for Elias, telling him not to move. Elias is breathing heavy as we go to commercial break.

Recap Of Elias Attack

As we come back from commercial break, Michael Cole reiterates that before the break, Elias received a horrific attack by King Corbin as the video clip is shown once again. As we come back, Cole states Elias is going to be transported to a local medical facility and we will receive updates throughout the weekend on how it will effect his match at Wrestlemania.

Asuka’s music sounds in the Performance Center as Asuka makes her way down the ramp wearing her mask as she does her entrance, removing the mask as she climbs the turnbuckle. A video clip is shown where Asuka attacked Alexa Bliss where Sasha Banks and Bayley ultimately won the match due to the interruption. Asuka smiling and strutting in the ring as we come back to the arena.

Out next is Alexa Bliss with Nikki Cross close behind, Cross looking excited and jumping as she points at Michael Cole. Cole says no-no-no and says, “Social distancing!” as Cross hugs Cole. Cross states she’s so happy to be calling her best friend’s match. The bell rings and the match begins.

Asuka and Alexa waste no time as they start throwing blows. A Double Foot Dropkick by Alexa on Asuka followed by a pin attempt. Asuka kicks out at two. Back to their feet, Asuka throws Alexa off the ropes, Asuka lands a Clothesline on Alexa. Asuka dances around the ring as Alexa sits up, rubbing her neck.

Alexa knocks Asuka over the top rope, Alexa mocking Asuka as she dances “crank dat” in the ring, finally Asuka climbs to the apron. Alexa kicks Asuka. Alexa attempts a sliding kick under the ropes, Asuka grabs Alexa’s feet, stopping her mid-way under the rope, then slamming Alexa into the steel stairs on the outside of the ring. We go to commercial break.

As we come back from commercial break, Nikki Cross is sitting with Michael Cole. Cross doing a one-woman chant for “Lexi! Lexi!” then asking Cole to join in and they both chant, “Lexi! Lexi!” Alexa and Asuka both stand on the outside of the ropes on the apron. A kick from Asuka, Alexa in trouble.

Alexa counters, spinning and slamming Asuka’s arm/shoulder into the apron as Alexa falls to ringside. Back in the ring, Alexa goes for the cover to no avail, Asuka kicks out. Asuka runs at Alexa, Alexa side steps as Asuka slams her shoulder into the turnbuckle. More back and forth between the two, Alexa with multiple pin attempts, Asuka continues to kick out.

Finally, Alexa plants a DDT on Asuka for the pin and Alexa gets the three count pin for the win!

Backstage With The Usos

The Usos state it wouldn’t be the road to Wrestlemania if The Usos didn’t take on New Day one more time. The Usos state they have the juice, and seven time champs to come soon.

Announcement

Michael Cole states before Reigns is set to take on Goldberg this year at Wrestlemania, we will be taken back to Wrestlemania 32 where Roman Reigns took on Triple H.

Just 8 Days Away, Michael Cole once again drives home the fact that Wrestlemania is too big for just one night, as it will be hosted by Ron Gronkowski. One of the matches will be Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns.

Cole then says we will go back to Wrestlemania 32, one of the biggest matches in Roman Reigns career in front of over 100,000 fans in the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship back at Wrestlemania 2016.

We enjoy this throwback match from Wrestlemania 2016 between the Big Dog and The Game!! (Coverage will resume when we are back in action at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL!)

A Spear by Roman Reigns on Triple H for the three count pin and ultimate WWE Heavyweight Championship win, Reigns leaves Wrestlemania 32 as the new champion!

Michael Cole and Triple H

Back in the Performance Center, Michael Cole begins, “And joining us now, the man who faced Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 32 WWE Hall of Famer The Game, The King of Kings, Triple H and Hunter, you are one of the few Superstars in WWE history that has gone up against Roman Reigns and Goldberg in your career, give us your insight and prediction for Wrestlemania this year.”

Triple H states they both bring an incredible amount of intensity. H says Reigns has an intensity that builds, but Goldberg’s intensity is all at once and that flame burns fast. Again, Triple H reminds he’s been in the ring with both men, he states Reigns only gets stronger throughout the match as his intensity builds. Triple H goes on to say if the match is short, it’s Goldberg all the way, but if it goes long, if Reigns can withstand the initial onslaught of Goldberg, then his money is all the way on Reigns.

With that, Michael Cole reiterates the Universal Championship Match and the details surrounding Wrestlemania being a two day event.

Then asks Rose if she’s ready to go back to the hotel room.

Firefly Funhouse

Bray Wyatt is seen waving with a big smile on his face as he welcomes his friends to the Firefly Funhouse, laughing as he states he’s “Super duper excited to see everyone”. Wyatt starts to say he’s here today to teach everyone… but is interrupted by “shut up! shut up! SHUT UP!”

Wyatt says, “You had your chance, but he won’t.” The Abigail puppet tells Wyatt he was delusional then, and delusional now. Asking Wyatt if he has the secret recipe for beating John Cena now, to which Wyatt states he does.

Wyatt then pulls out each ingredient, adding it to a blender as he announces each one. Wyatt says 1 scope of disappointment, a little bit of self loathing, some hot sauce (for flavor), and 1 heaping helping of rage and resentment. Perfect!

Rambling Rabbit offers a carrot, telling Wyatt not to forget the carrot, so he could see John Cena. Wyatt rips the head off of Rambling Rabbit and adds it to the blender stating, “Just what I needed, some irrelevant and unnecessary opinions!”

As he turns the blender on he laughs. Wyatt then takes a sip as he states “Yowie Wowie, that went straight to my head!” Wyatt then states it has one nasty side effect as he rubs his head. Wyatt states his match with Cena won’t be an ordinary match. They made a Firefly Funhouse Match at Wrestlemania. The Fiend flashes as he states, “Let me in!” Then the screen goes black.
