Trish Stratus talks about a potential Royal Rumble return

Trish has not competed inside the squared circle since SummerSlam 2019 when she lost to Charlotte Flair. She was previously in the 2018 Royal Rumble. Appearing on the Bellas podcast, Trish was asked if she might make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble.

“I am filming the semifinals,” said Trish, referencing her role as a judge on Canada’s Got Talent. “They do wrap up at a certain time. I’ll be in that headspace, so that’s sort of my focus at the moment. That’s what I have to do. You know how intense it is, I have to be in it.”

It was mentioned later in the podcast that they are still on lockdown in Canada, but Trish said things should be lifted by Thursday, January 27. Trish was scheduled to be the guest host for the December 29 WWE live event in Toronto, Canada, but the event was postponed due to the country limiting capacity in arenas as there was a surge in the COVID cases. The event has been rescheduled for March 27.

Royal Rumble is full of surprises and WWE had surprised the fans well ahead of the show when they already announced 18 participants, and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair declared herself an entrant to make it 19.

In her segment on SmackDown, Charlotte Flair gave a preview of the Women’s Royal Rumble, where it was revealed that seven stars of the past would return – including Lita, Summer Rae, The Bella Twins, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly, and Mickie James. This will be the fifth installment of the Women’s Royal Rumble match.
