WWE Legend Says Vince Is ‘New Chris Benoit’

The allegations and subsequent resignation of Vince McMahon from WWE and TKO Group Holdings have left a considerable impact on the wrestling industry and the perception of the McMahon name. Eric Bischoff, a WWE Hall of Famer and influential figure in the wrestling world, shared his thoughts on the situation during his 83 Weeks podcast.

Bischoff acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations against Vince McMahon and the potential long-term consequences for his legacy. He drew a parallel with the situation involving Chris Benoit, stating that McMahon’s name might be viewed similarly by many people. Despite his past conflicts and disagreements with McMahon, Bischoff expressed his respect for McMahon’s achievements in the industry.

While discussing the allegations, Bischoff highlighted the drastic measures taken by WWE and TKO Group Holdings to distance themselves from Vince McMahon. This includes removing his presence from their corporate websites and essentially erasing him from their public image.

Bischoff emphasized the difficulty of the situation for McMahon’s family, particularly his children and grandchildren, and described the overall situation as “disgusting.”

“The name McMahon I think, he’s gonna be right there with Chris Benoit in the minds of a lot of people as a name not to be mentioned the way things look at this point. I fought with Vince, I battled with him, I did everything I could to undermine him. But at the end of it all, I respected the guy that beat my ass because that’s what fighters do. If somebody’s good enough to beat me in something you’ve got to respect their abilities. And even for me this is difficult, I can’t even imagine what it’s like for [McMahon’s] kids and the grandkids. It’s just disgusting.”

“You talk about the name, you go into Vince’s office and he’s got pictures of his father and his grandfather and newspaper articles of things his father accomplished and his grandfather accomplished. Gone, dark closet, stick it in a box and hide it. Nobody wants to be reminded anymore. It wasn’t just a name, they wiped Vince McMahon off the WWE and TKO corporate websites. He didn’t exist starting today and that’s not gonna change.”

The wrestling community is closely monitoring this sensitive issue, and the ultimate impact on the wrestling world and the McMahon family’s legacy remains uncertain. The removal of Vince McMahon’s presence from corporate platforms reflects the severity of the allegations and the efforts made to dissociate from him.
