WWE reportedly moving NXT on TV to compete with AEW

So far WWE has been taking subtle shots at AEW but it appears that the company is now gearing up to compete with the promotion directly.

According to reports from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE is looking to move NXT to TV and putting it against the announced TNT show of the upstart promotion.

The development brand of the company is expected to be stretched to 2 hours and broadcasted live on USA Network on Wednesday nights after these changes.

NXT’s premiere on Cable Network is reportedly scheduled for 18th September and it’s believed that the company will be making an announcement for the same very soon.

With WWE finally deciding to compete with AEW, it would be interesting to see how Officials from All Elite Wrestling react to the news and what moves they make to take on the Black and Yellow brand.

Exactly! If you want to attack WWE, there’s plenty of easy material. No need to make stuff up.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

It was once the WWF and NXT is getting put in other countries. The fact NXT gets one of the best fans reaction in Pro Wrestling today. So to think WWE can’t change it name it happen once before.

  • Michael Justin Arnold

Yea lets change our company’s name (that people around the world have know since 2002), to the name of a (currently) internet-only “niche fan” show… Makes perfect buisness sense!

As we said before, too many AEW fanboys throwing shade at WWE and conveniently forgetting stories that have been reported long ago.
Even the sites that reported that way back when are ignoring it, which is pretty much typical of this industry.

WWE does enough bad things to attack them over, but because of AEW it seems they even wanna just attack them for things they make up or forget.

  • Keith Learmonth

WWE isn’t changing its name to NXT.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

Right and I think the bigger picture is for WWE to change it name to NXT. But it sounds like the AEW is already fearing NXT because it probably WWE best brand.

  • Keith Learmonth

    What a load of BS.
They’ve been talking about doing this since before there was an AEW to compete with. They were exploring options for it in June last year.
