WWE Reportedly Sign AEW Star Before Raw

Former AEW star Brian Pillman Jr. who recently departed the company is unlikely to join WWE anytime soon. He had been with the company since 2019 and mainly competed on AEW’s YouTube shows, Dark and Dark: Elevation. As part of the Varsity Blonds, he had a run with Griff Garrison.

Pillman Jr.’s profile was recently removed from the official AEW website and speculation sparked about his status with the company. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com confirmed that Pillman Jr.’s contract with the company had expired and he departed the company.

Following his departure from AEW, Pillman Jr. was reportedly spotted at the WWE Performance Center. Reports stated that AEW star is closing in to sign with WWE. However, it isn’t the case.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that there is no hiring freeze going on in WWE. Instead, WWE is limiting who they hire until after the WWE-UFC merger. That is why WWE won’t hire Brian Pillman Jr. anytime soon.

Bodyslam.net reports that WWE might not hold off on signing Brian Pillman Jr. until their merger with UFC is completed. It was further reported that Brian Pillman Jr’s deal is in place, and it is in process.

In an update to the situation surrounding Brian Pillman Jr. and his WWE status, sources have told me that a deal is in place, or is in the process of being finalized before it can officially be signed. Sources have also indicated that Pillman Jr. will be moving to Orlando, Florida by the end of August where he will report to NXT and begin training at the WWE Performance Center full-time.

During a Captain’s Corner Virtual Signing event, Brian Pillman Jr. teased an exciting opportunity in the works, hinting at big things on the horizon. Fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement of his next move.

“It’s a tough business and it’s a long road to the top if you want to rock n roll. Being here today and getting to reminisce about some of the past moments of my career has really cheered me up and put me in a position to where I’m excited for the future. There is a lot to come, I can’t speak on it right now, it’s kind of in the works. I have a huge moment, a huge opportunity coming up in my career to continue making memories, to continue coming up with new gear ideas and sharing my version of pro wrestling with you all. Thank you for supporting me.”
