WWE SD/ECW Live Results – January 9th

WWE SmackDown/ECW Live Event Results
January 9th, 2010 – Fargo, North Dakota
Report by Brad Jordheim, PWInsider

I was at the ECW/Smackdown live event here in Fargo, ND. It wasn’t a sell-out by any means, but the crowd seemed pretty lively. The merchandise stand was really busy before the event. Looked to be lots of Cena, Rey Mysterio and DX merchandise. Tony Chimel handled the announcing duties. Referees were Jack Doan and this new ref with the dark hair. (Sorry, don’t know his name.) Anyway, the results:(May not be in the correct match order.)

R-Truth def Dolph Ziggler.

Vladmir Kozlov, Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust def William Regal, Zack Ryder and….Tyler Reks? (Perhaps they’re going to bring him back as a heel? Kozlov pinned Regal.)

Eric Escobar def Mike Knox (Hardly anyone knew who Escobar was and it seemed most people were cheering for Knox.)

Mickie James def Beth Phoenix.

The Hart Dynasty(with Natalya) def Slammaster J and Jimmy Wang Yang (Natalya is smokin’ hot in person. She was good at working the crowd. Slammaster J got pinned after the Hart Attack.)

At one point in the show, Savannah asked some people the name of the next PPV and they correctly answered Royal Rumble. Thus, they were moved to the front row. (Tough question!)

Chris Jericho def. Matt Hardy (Jericho got on the mic before the match and called a bunch of people failures and hypocrites. It might’ve just been me, but the sound system at the Fargo Dome wasn’t that great since I couldn’t hear the entire heel promos Jericho, Regal, Dolph Ziggler and Drew Mcintyre cut during the course of the show. Jericho got a mixed reaction, I’d say. Of course he’s legendary, so what can you expect? I yelled “Ask him ref” when Jericho had Hardy in a submission hold to which Jericho yelled “Shut your mouth!” I feel so honored! ^_^)

In an ECW championship match, Christian def Ezekiel Jackson. (Seems like quite a few people didn’t know who Zeke was. Most of the crowd was solidly behind Christian. Ezekiel plays the big, intimidating heel pretty well.)

Intermission

Drew Mcintyre def John Morrison (Drew Mcintyre got on the mic and complained about the weather here and called us animals. He mentioned Kozlov thinking it’s cold here and he’s from Russia. He’s a pretty good heel. Seemed like some people didn’t know who he was.)

In the main event, Rey Mysterio def Batista via DQ when Batista hit Rey with the ring bell. (A few people got ejected during this match that were interacting with Batista. One kid got ejected for giving Batista the finger, I believe. Apparently, a lot of the fans in attendance didn’t get the memo Batista’s a heel now as he got a pretty good face reaction. In fact, I saw an “Animal Lover” sign. Batista even brought a “Batista fears 619” sign into the ring which he tore up. Post match, Rey hits Batista with the steel chair Batista brought in; then hits him with a seated senton.

Overall, a pretty cool show. Although, I wish CM Punk was there as I’m sure he would’ve had a lot of material to work with considering all the people with beer in attendance. Also, it would’ve been nice to have seen Kane or Undertaker there, but I guess you can’t have it all.
