WWE Star Wanted To Quit Before Heart Attack Death

WWE Hall Of Famer Eddie Guerrero’s legacy in the world of professional wrestling is undeniable. He was a master in the ring and a beloved figure among fans and peers alike. However, his untimely passing in 2005 left a huge void in the industry and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Eddie Guerrero had achieved great success throughout his career, including becoming the WWE Champion in 2004 after defeating Brock Lesnar at No Way Out. But according to his nephew, Chavo Guerrero, Eddie had grown weary of the constant traveling and wanted to leave professional wrestling behind some six months before his passing.

Chavo, who is also a former WWE wrestler, recently spoke about Eddie’s desire to quit wrestling during an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet. He explained that Eddie loved his family deeply and wanted to spend more time with them, rather than constantly being on the road.

“Eddie had a great mind for the business. He just didn’t want to be on the road anymore. He loved his family a lot. He really, really did, and he wanted to be home with his family. I remember before he passed, like 6 months before, I remember him coming to me and saying, ‘I don’t want to be here anymore.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘I don’t want to wrestle anymore.'”

Chavo went on to explain that he advised Eddie to quit wrestling if that was what he truly wanted, but Eddie was conflicted. He didn’t know what else he could do if he left the business, as wrestling was all he had ever known.

Chavo ultimately left WWE himself for similar reasons, wanting to be there for his children and not miss out on their lives. He said:

“My kids at the time were 8 and 11 maybe, and I just didn’t want them growing up without a dad. I had already been on the road for 20 years. I didn’t want to be that casualty and divorced from wrestling and the whole thing. Everything you work hard for and you lose it. I didn’t want to get divorced. I didn’t want my kids to grow up without a dad.”
