WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H recently announced that WWE Night of Champions will mark the return of the World Heavyweight Championship. Roman Reigns’ hold on the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship has led to this decision, and a new champion will be crowned in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 27. The question remains as to who will be crowned the champ at the massive show.
Could the celebrities be crowned?
WWE might come up with the idea of crowning a celeb to increase the publicity of the title. One of the choices could be Logan Paul. His in-ring debut was quite impressive and he showcased a great performance against the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel. He recently competed in another great match against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 39. ‘The Maverick’ also shared a Tweet possibly indicating that he wants to win the title.
Another choice could be Bad Bunny, who has been heavily involved with the WWE programming lately. The three-time Grammy winner could elevate the World Heavyweight title with more popularity he has gained lately in WWE. ‘Benito’ was announced as the host of WWE Backlash but he is also set to take on The Judgment Day member, Damien Priest in a San Juan Street Fight.
Regular WWE stars might also capture the gold
WWE could decided to put the title on the regular stars. Brock Lesnar, who has been a part-timer might have his sights set to the gold. The ten-time World Champion has come up short against Roman Reigns repeatedly, which means he could be in line for the World Heavyweight Championship.WWE has always preferred Brock to the Champion.
Meanwhile, Seth Rollins said that the new title wouldn’t be one for part-timers, something Lesnar definitely is, but it wouldn’t be the first logic-defying call by WWE. ‘The Visionary’ is a favorite among many and WWE could make Seth Rollins World Heavyweight Champion.
He proved last Summer that he could carry Raw in the absence of Roman Reigns. Rollins might finally be able to end the drought of being a champ as it has been almost four years since he won a World Champion.
The former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley could also potentially win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship if given a shot at it. He is a two-time WWE and ECW World Champion. However, he is yet to win a World Heavyweight Championship. Now that the title has made a surprise comeback, he could have the chance to win it.
Cody Rhodes was the favorite to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39. However, WWE decided to go to another direction. Cody could arguably be WWE’s worst choice to crown the World Heavyweight title and it is likely that he would be eyeing to dethrone Roman Reigns.
