Backstage news on Shane McMahon’s role at Survivor Series

Shane McMahon

As seen during last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, Randy Orton defeated Sami Zayn to earn a spot at the Male SmackDown team for the Survivor Series PPV.

After this, several sites reported that Orton is going to be the captain of the team but so far WWE hadn’t made any official announcement on it and it appears that the reason behind it is that Randy is not really penned for the role.

According to Pwinsider, Shane McMahon is expected to wrestle at the upcoming Non-Exclusive PPV and the commissioner of the Blue Brand is expected to be the captain of his team.

It’s worth mentioning here that Stephanie McMahon returned to WWE Programming during the latest episode of Monday Night Raw and announced that Kurt Angle would be the captain of Team Raw.

Since Daniel Bryan is not very likely to be cleared by WWE doctors for an in-ring return anytime soon, Shane McMahon appears to be the most logical choice to be Angle’s counterpart.

Neither is watching 1 guy that hasent lased up boots in years & the other who only does for ppvs. Would much rather full time wrestlers.

I really doubt HE thinks he has to be involved all the time. This is a Vince call.
Shane is just on a talent contract these days, not a creative.

Even if he somehow magically got cleared, Bryan wrestling in the match wouldn’t make sense, because then he would be playing the heel. He would be playing the Sami Zayn to Shane’s Kevin Owens. It would just be weird.

I wish he’d tear something so he’d stop thinking he has to be involved all the time.

Disagree, because that’s just not interesting.

Shane & Kurt should be captains in the team’s corner not in the match…
