Breaking News: NXT call-ups, Smackdown Live title change

Charlotte came out on Smackdown Live to talk about the match she had with Asuka at WrestleMania 34, where she defeated the Empress of Tomorrow, breaking her undefeated streak. Charlotte asked who she would make magic with next, when the Iconic Duo, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, came out to the ring.

The Iconic Duo verbally picked Charlotte apart before the Queen couldn’t handle it anymore, attacking the NXT call-ups. However, the number games were too much for her to handle, and Royce and Kay laid her out on the outside of the ring with a vicious assault before hitting her with a double powerbomb. They dragged her into the middle of the ring to pose before leaving.

However, before they could make their way to the back, Carmella’s music hit, and the Princess of Staten Island ran down to the ring with WWE referee Mike Chioda. Carmella cashed in her MITB briefcase after what seemed like minutes of the ref giving her confused looks.

The bell rang, and Carmella hit a dazed and injured Charlotte with a superkick. Carmella then covered the Queen and got the three count, claiming the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship for herself.

In one segment, Smackdown Live debuted two new women to the SD women’s division, along with a title change.

The WWE roster has responded to both the call-up of the Iconics and Carmella’s cash-in, and Carmella’s Mixed Match Challenge tag team partner Big E shared an “emotional” tweet.

In one fell swoop, the landscape of Smackdown Live’s women’s division has changed completely.
