Rumors of whether or not ‘The Boss’ Sasha Banks would show up to face now-former WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair ran rampant leading up to the highly hyped WWE pay-per-view event, SummerSlam 2021. At the end of it all though, Banks was not at the event and while Carmella showed up to originally fill in, that would be abandoned for a shock and surprising return as Becky Lynch came back to a WWE ring for the first time in a year. Sasha Banks ‘humiliated’ this WWE SummerSlam main eventer.
Lynch would challenge Belair one-on-one and even though Belair would accept, ‘The Man’ would win a very one-sided affair not-unlike a Goldberg or Brock Lesnar encounter.
However, we have a slight development to why Banks was off of tonight’s show, which was originally reported by Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. Fightful Select is now stating that people backstage were not sure what was going to happen tonight but to promote the match as if it were going to go down.
It should be noted however, that Sasha Banks’ non-attendance was not part of some sort of storyline or angle. Futhermore, according to the outlet, Banks was not backstage at the show.
