AEW Star Reveals Goldberg WWE Bank Payment

WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg returned to WWE in 2016 after a hiatus of more than 12 years from the company. He decimated Brock Lesnar in a squash match at Survivor 2016 and then win the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in 2017. He defended his title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 in one of the show’s main events.  As revealed by his contract, Vince McMahon can only have him compete in one more match every year, so it needs to be meaningful. It was rumored to be the last match of his contract, so it may be his retirement match. Goldberg was also previously diagnosed with a bad illness as well.

He had two matches against Bobby Lashley at WWE SummerSlam and then WWE Crown Jewel on October 21st, 2021 in Saudi Arabia respectively. Goldberg beat Lashley in the second match. Since then, the WWE Hall Of Famer has been absent from WWE television.

Goldberg squared off against Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at the WWE Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia on February 19th. The Tribal Chief ended up winning the match as well.

CM Punk recently spoke during the post-AEW Revolution media scrum, where he indirectly took a shot at Goldberg for ending Bret Hart’s career for good. Goldberg is paid $3 million per year primarily for Saudi matches.

“I love Bret Hart. Bret Hart’s career was cut short. And it’s a god d**n tragedy because there are people who go over to Saudi Arabia and they get paid millions of dollars. And that should have been Bret, ya know?”

During an edition of the Busted Open Podcast, last month former WWE Superstar and current AEW wrestler and personality Mark Henry stated that he saw a problem with Goldberg challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia – a match which Goldberg ultimately lost. Credit to Sportskeeda for the below.

“I love Bill (Goldberg) as a person and as a man and as a father, and he’s built up equity in himself as a talent. That never goes away. But, sometimes it’s better used when you’re trying to enhance, bring light to a situation and let somebody else be the mentor. There’s power in ‘giving’. They’re putting Bill in a spot where he’s ‘taking’. And it’s not like he earned the #1 contendership.”
