AEW Star ‘Lying’ About Quitting For WWE

The former All Elite Wrestling Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes and former Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes recently left the company for a painful reason. It has been speculated that they could be signing with WWE and even work WrestleMania 38. However, as it seems, ‘The American Nightmare’ is yet to decide his future and he has still not signed with WWE. It has been noted that his signing remains uncertain but if he signs before this Monday then he could make his return at RAW in Jacksonville.

Cody Rhodes seemingly wants a better deal from WWE

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the WWE believes that Rhodes is trying to get a better deal from them with the idea being that he has leverage since WWE wants as much star power as possible for WrestleMania. It’s also believed that he may be playing the “Brian Pillman game” or that this deal is not going to happen.

For those who are unaware, Pillman was able to work WCW into giving him a legitimate release so he could play up his “Loose Cannon” character. As part of the release, Pillman worked some shows in ECW but also started a bidding war between WCW and WWE.

Back in December of last year when Rhodes appeared on ‘The Spanish God’ Sammy Guevara’s blog, he hinted about his upcoming plans in the new year:

“I have no complaints, I am thankful to the fans that cheer me and I am thankful to the fans that boo me because both sets of fans are getting ready to go on a ride that’s just bizarre and it’s not the path that you think. We’re not doing what’s been done before.”

With WWE WrestleMania 38 approaching soon, we will have to see what is next for Rhodes.
