Edge Returning To WWE With Diva Legend?

SummerSlam 2022 is set to take place this weekend and it turns out WWE had plans for Edge and Beth Phoenix to be featured on the show. However, that remains uncertain.

Edge and Beth Phoenix might return

Mike Johnson of PW Insider addressed Edge’s status for SummerSlam in a recent Q&A. He noted that Edge and Beth Phoenix were slated for Nashville in some capacity. There is no word on if that is still the case.

“In our Elite section, We reported that Edge and Beth Phoenix were both slated for MSG but then reported plans changed shortly after the Vince McMahon exit. The original plans had them slated for Summerslam weekend, but there’s no word whether that is still happening or they are holding off.”

WWE has been teasing the fans since Money In The Bank Premium Live Event. The company had dropped a cryptic teaser which was speculated to be for a returning Bray Wyatt. However, fans might be disappointed to know that it is reportedly not for him. The company once again dropped a new teaser on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW that has gotten the fans scratching their head.

The new vignette included references to John Cena, Randy Orton and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, among others. Although many fans are holding out hope that the vignette would lead to the WWE comeback of Wyatt, the various references, especially the burned Foley jacket (from WrestleMania 22), 2006 RKO t-shirt, and Cena cap, are seemingly related to Edge’s career.

Similarly, the first vignette that aired during Money in the Bank earlier this month made subtle references to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle (gold medal), The Hardy Boyz (gloves), The Dudleys (glasses) and Christian Cage (a cross). Subsequently, Fightful Select reported that the working plan was for the vignettes to represent Edge.

Despite all signs pointing to the Rated-R Superstar’s comeback, many fans are still not convinced, making an argument that the vignettes could be relating to both Edge and Wyatt.

Edge was last seen when The Judgement Day stable turned on him. They beat him down and wrote him off television after that. The report at the time said that Edge rejected WWE’s idea for a supernatural addition to the stable’s presentation. The Judgement Day stable saw the recruitment of a new member, Finn Balor. However, upon Balor joining the faction, they turned on the WWE Hall of Famer and the former leader was kicked out of the stable. The Judgement Day (Edge, Rhea Ripley, and Damien Priest) had defeated the team of AJ Styles, Liv Morgan and Finn Balor at Hell In A Cell Premium Live Event.
