WrestleMania 39 is just a few weeks away and the card is getting stacked up with some massive matches. There have been plenty of exciting matches announced for the show. The most exciting match of the night will be the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. However, there is another match that might be the main event.
Gunther is set to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39. However, his opponent is yet to be determined. Next week on SmackDown, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre will face each other in a number one contender’s match for the Intercontinental Championship.
Following the announcement of the match, Sheamus took to Twitter to declare that the winner would receive an ‘‘IC Title Match Main Event at Wrestlemania 39 Day One’.

It seems unlikely that the Intercontinental Championship match will be the main event of WrestleMania 39 night one despite McIntyre and Sheamus both having the caliber to put up a main-event stature match. However, the tease does confirm that the match itself will take place on night one.
