Vince McMahon Warned WWE Star Before Surgery

Vince McMahon caused a stir over a year ago when he temporarily retired from his role amid a hush money controversy. However, his absence from the company was relatively short-lived, as he eventually reclaimed his position as Chairman of the Board. Nevertheless, recent developments have led to McMahon taking a medical leave of absence, necessitated by a spinal surgery.

Initial reports indicated that Vince McMahon had undergone spinal surgery, yet the specific focus of the operation remained undisclosed. Subsequent updates now reveal that the surgery concentrated on his back, a revelation that diverges from previous assumptions suggesting his neck was the target.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter shed light on the details of Vince McMahon’s medical situation, clarifying that the spinal surgery was primarily intended to address issues with his back. This revelation deviates from earlier beliefs that the surgery pertained to his neck, which had undergone a procedure back in 1994 prior to his trial.

Vince McMahon’s back issues are thought to be the result of years of intense physical exertion and weightlifting, notably his persistent dedication to heavy squats even after the point when many would have ceased due to concerns for their well-being. While squats are a renowned exercise for building muscle, the toll they take on the hips and back over time is a well-known aspect of physical training. McMahon’s commitment to his fitness regimen and his reluctance to relinquish heavy squats, even in the face of hip issues, played a role in his medical journey.

Vince McMahon’s spinal surgery was for his back. Some had thought it was for his neck, where he had surgery in 1994 before his trial. It’s likely from a lifetime of heavy lifting, notably continuing to do squats heavy long after most would have given up on it for care of their bodies. Squats are the best exercise for building muscle but in time they will take their toll on your hips and back, and McMahon has had his hip issues as well, but never got a hip replacement because he was told he would have to give up heavy squats. In a funny story, when Mick Foley went to get his hip replaced, and this was many years ago, Vince advised him against it and said that if he gets it, it means he can’t do heavy squats any longer. Of course Foley was decades past the idea of doing heavy squats.

Interestingly, McMahon’s advice to Mick Foley against undergoing hip replacement surgery, based on the potential impact on his ability to perform heavy squats, adds a humorous dimension to his perspective on fitness and longevity. The anecdote offers a glimpse into McMahon’s steadfast commitment to his training philosophy and the unique considerations that guide his decision-making.
