Hulk Hogan, the legendary wrestler, has been transparent about his health challenges in recent years, particularly the chronic pain he grapples with regularly. In a recent update, Hogan shared unfortunate details about his condition and the ongoing battle against it.
The wrestling icon, known as “The Immortal,” initiated his wrestling career on August 9, 1977. His prominence skyrocketed during his second tenure with WWE from 1983 to 1993, a period marked by the industry’s significant growth. Hogan’s signature move, the Atomic Legdrop, played a pivotal role in his success, but it took a toll on his back.
The repercussions of the Atomic Legdrop led Hogan to undergo multiple back surgeries, including a recent one in January of this year. Despite facing paralysis as a result of the procedure, Hogan managed to make a complete recovery.
In a video message addressed to his devoted fan base, known as the Hulkamaniacs, Hogan provided an update on his health. He candidly shared that he continues to experience persistent pain, emphasizing the fluctuating nature of his condition. Hogan described the toll that four decades in the wrestling ring have taken on his body, highlighting the challenges of enduring varying levels of pain, from manageable days to those so severe that they hinder sleep and cognitive function.
This update underscores the physical toll of a lengthy wrestling career and sheds light on Hogan’s ongoing efforts to cope with the enduring effects of his time in the ring.
“After 40 years in the ring, the pain starts coming up on you,” Hogan said. “It becomes prevalent on a real consistent basis. It can have a range from having a nice day that’s not too bad to making the day miserable and so you can’t sleep or even think straight.”
