The recent absence of Drew Gulak from NXT programming has garnered significant attention and speculation among WWE fans regarding the reasons for his removal. The situation arose after Ronda Rousey made allegations against Gulak during an appearance on NewsNation earlier this month.
Rousey accused Gulak of inappropriately tugging on her pant drawstrings backstage at a WWE event in 2022. In response, Gulak explained that the incident was accidental, asserting that he inadvertently touched her drawstring while reaching out to shake her hand. Rousey confronted Gulak about the incident, emphasizing her disapproval of his actions and expressing concerns about the culture and treatment of women in WWE.
“Drew Gulak. Drew Gulak, that’s who it was. I confronted him later and I was like, ‘If I ever hear about you putting your hands on any other woman like this or doing anything like this to me ever again, we’re going to have a problem.’ He was like, ‘No, no, no. I’m glad you said something to me.’ He really backpedaled, but it put a sour taste in my mouth about the culture there and what’s considered acceptable on how to touch and treat the women in the hallways, and anywhere.”
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer provided further insight, noting that WWE conducted an investigation into Rousey’s claims, interviewing individuals involved in the incident. Although the outcome of the investigation remains undisclosed, Gulak has been absent from WWE programming since the allegations surfaced.
Alvarez reported that Gulak’s absence may be a result of the investigation, as he has been effectively “written off” in storyline. In recent episodes of NXT, the narrative has hinted at the No Quarter Catch Crew approaching Tony D’Angelo’s family to “take care” of Gulak. This plot development suggests that WWE may have chosen to remove Gulak from television in response to the allegations made against him.
“Regarding Ronda and Drew, what is unique about this one is both claimed there were witnesses. I was told WWE did an investigation, interviewed people, and Gulak has been murdered in storyline. So I presume that tells you the result of the investigation.”
