According to Mediate, in a significant revelation, CNN has unveiled footage capturing Kenneth Chesebro, a lawyer central to ex-President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, among the crowd at the Capitol on January 6th, interacting with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Chesebro’s role in Trump’s election plot has now come under intense scrutiny, particularly after the recent indictment of Trump by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on 13 counts, in which Chesebro is a co-defendant.
The CNN KFile investigation, led by Andrew Kaczynski, Em Steck, and Yahya Abou-Ghazala, meticulously examined videos and photos from that fateful day, pinpointing multiple instances where Chesebro was captured alongside Alex Jones. The footage shows Chesebro recording Jones with his phone as Jones ventured into a restricted area of the Capitol grounds, where later events would unfold.
While Chesebro’s actions outside the Capitol have not been subject to intense scrutiny, his alleged involvement in a plot to undermine the 2020 Electoral College process has cast a spotlight on his role. Chesebro is accused of devising a scheme to utilize fake GOP electors in multiple states to subvert the election outcome and keep Trump in office.
Chesebro’s connections to the events of January 6th gained further attention when he invoked his Fifth Amendment rights during questioning by the House select committee. However, CNN’s investigation has raised questions about the timeline of his whereabouts, as he was outside the Capitol at the same time his alleged election scheme was unraveling within it.
Videos and photographs reviewed by CNN show the man dutifully recording Jones with his phone as the bombastic media personality ascended to the restricted area of the Capitol grounds where mobs of then-President Donald Trump’s supporters eventually broke in.
While the man’s actions outside the Capitol that day have drawn little scrutiny, his alleged connections to a plot to overthrow the 2020 election have recently come into sharp focus: He is attorney Kenneth Chesebro, the alleged architect of the scheme to subvert the 2020 Electoral College process by using fake GOP electors in multiple states.
When asked by the House select committee where he was the first week of January 2021 and on January 6, Chesebro invoked his Fifth Amendment rights. But a CNN investigation has placed him outside of the Capitol at the same time as his alleged plot to keep Trump in office unraveled inside it.
There is no indication Chesebro entered the Capitol Building or was violent.
It’s important to note that the footage does not indicate that Chesebro entered the Capitol building or engaged in violent activities. Nonetheless, his presence at the scene of the January 6th events and his alleged involvement in the election plot have added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing investigations surrounding the events of that day and the attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
