DAZN US reported what Shields said:

“It doesn’t matter who you are. You can be me, you can be Conor, you can be Floyd, he has to get his mind back to MMA. He has to get his mind off boxing. You can’t be in a boxing stance in MMA.

“If he can back to his wrestling and all that stuff, I think he can beat Dustin Poirier. I feel like Dustin Poirier has his [McGregor’s] number right now unless McGregor goes back to the drawing board and switches his mind back to MMA.”

Claressa Shields denies making the controversial statement

She recently took to Twitter and clarified what she had actually said. Her Tweet read:

“To stick to boxing? I did not say Mcgregor needs to stick to mma & not boxing. Why would y’all even write that?”

In another she also lambasted the reports and said:

“I literally said if Conor wants to beat Dustin he has to switch his mind back to mma and not have it in boxing. Now why tf y’all write & say that I told him to”
