Sometimes in the sport of pro-wrestling, one gets overlooked despite having all the right tools to be extremely successful. Many in the business’s history have had to live through this for most of their careers and it is truly an unfortunate thing.
Cody Rhodes was recently asked on Twitter about who he thinks is the most underrated wrestler today. Rhodes said that “underrated” and “underutilized” are two distinct terms that are sometimes confused for each other.
According to him, “underrated” wrestlers are those who don’t receive enough credit for their in-ring prowess. He went on to name Cesaro (who he referred to with his real name) and Shawn Spears as the two wrestlers who fit that term.
Underrated and underutilized often get misconstrued and bundled together.

Shawn Spears had an underwhelming run in WWE which let to his departure from the company. He then went to AEW and has enjoyed moderate success there so far.
Cesaro on the other hand has always been seen by the fans as a future World Champion. Unfortunately, Vince McMahon doesn’t see that and has publicly stated that the Swiss Cyborg lacks the “IT factor”.
