More on Daniel Bryan’s health, possibilities of in-ring return

SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan made headlines a few days ago when he stated that he is ‘working on’ his in-ring return during an interview with Sports Illustrated.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Dave Meltzer spoke up about Bryan’s comments stating that Daniel wants to wrestle “He wants to wrestle; I mean that’s the thing,”

Replying to the questions everybody has in mind, Meltzer said that he doesn’t think Bryan is 100% though he revealed that he has some tests done back in April which might have changed his perspective:

“I don’t think it’s 100 percent. I mean it wasn’t 100 percent as of a couple months ago, He [Bryan] had some tests done in April and I don’t know how the tests went. Maybe that encouraged him, based on that.”

Continuing on the topic, Dave talked about the recent open concussion lawsuit against the company and said that if Bryan does wrestle again it wouldn’t be in WWE.

Later he spoke up about how the chances of the lead doctor Joseph Maroon changing his mind and clearing Bryan to compete are not very bright and hence the possibilities of Daniel wrestling inside a WWE ring again are pretty stiff:

“The one thing I don’t see is Vince going against [Dr.] Maroon, so the question is, you know again, as long as Maroon is there, Joseph Maroon, I don’t see Maroon changing his tune on this. It’s possible he will but I don’t think so. And if he doesn’t, I don’t see Vince because for Vince to go against the advice of his lead doctor, that would be disastrous potentially. It’s a horrible idea so I don’t think that’s going to happen.”

It’s worth noting here that Daniel Bryan announced his retirement from in-ring competition back in early 2016 after he took an EEG reflex test which revealed a lesion in his brain’s temporoparietal region.

While as a wrestling fan I hope that Daniel will make a smart decision and only choose to wrestle again if he is fully confident about his health, seeing his passion for the sports, anything looks possible. We’ll keep you posted on any further updates in this situation.
