Derrick Lewis squared off against Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 265, for the UFC Interim Heavyweight Championship. Ciryl Gane used quick, dynamic motions to touch up Derrick Lewis and kept up the relentless offence.
In round three, Ciryl Gane’s consistent kicks finally broke through, leaving Derrick Lewis stunned and open to more shots. Gane then hit Derric Lewis with many vicious ground-and-pound strikes until the referee called the fight to a stop. Thus, Ciryl Gane won the fight via TKO at 4:11 of round three and will now be squaring off against UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou in the future in order to unify the titles.
During the post-fight press conference, Ciryl Gane accused Derrick Lewis of poking him in the eye and Derrick Lewis did the same. It turned out that the alleged eye poke from Ciryl Gane actually a punch but in Gane’s case, he had to fight with blurred vision.
