Former WWE Diva Tammy Lynn Sytch, known as Sunny to WWE fans, is currently serving a prison sentence due to a fatal DUI accident she caused in April 2022. Recently, there has been an update regarding one of the lawsuits stemming from this tragic incident.
Jane Olivova, a passenger in another car involved in the accident, had filed a lawsuit against Geico, among others. PW Insider reports that Olivova filed notice on June 19th indicating that the two sides had reached a settlement and requested voluntary dismissal of the case. While the settlement awaits the judge’s approval, the specifics of the settlement terms have not been disclosed.
Initially, Olivova had filed suit against Sytch, her then-fiancé James Pente, and Geico. However, she later amended the lawsuit to list only Geico as the defendant, seeking damages over $50,000. The trial was scheduled for July 8th in the Circuit Court of Volusia County, Florida.
The fatal accident occurred on March 25, 2022, in Volusia County, Florida, when Sytch crashed her 2012 Mercedes-Benz into the rear of a stopped 2013 Kia Sorento at a high speed, resulting in the death of a 75-year-old man. Subsequent toxicology reports revealed that Sytch’s blood alcohol content was significantly above the legal limit, leading to her arrest on DUI and manslaughter charges in May 2022.
Sytch pleaded no contest to these charges on August 16, 2023, and was sentenced to seventeen and a half years in prison, with an additional eight years of probation, on November 27, 2023. She received credit for the 566 days she had already spent in jail, with a tentative release date set for December 2039.
