WWE released several Superstars on April 15th and Heath Slater was among those released. The release of the veteran came as a shock to many. Following the end of the 90-day no-compete clause, Slater will be free to do whatever he wants to.
Heath recently talked to Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory, where he revealed that he “needed” to be released from WWE. The current times are troubling and Slater is determined to make the most out of the situation, following his release.
“Getting fired, I really believe I needed this. The times are crazy, the times are weird now because you can’t go out and make money and all that stuff. But I really believe I needed this to get the fire, get the hunger, focus. I can honestly tell you that out of the last four to five years, besides me and Terry [Rhino] winning the tag titles which was an awesome little run, I have been so burned out and just not even really caring. To where this happened, to where I have to say thank you for lighting that fire for me again. Giving me that, ‘Oh, what? I’m gone, so I can spread my wings and fly a little bit?’”
After his release, Slater released a video where he promised he will be coming back to WWE better than ever before. He wants to follow in the footsteps of his former 3MB stablemates Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal. Both of them left the company and came back to eventually win the top titles in the company.
