Hulk Hogan has had a storied career that has left an indelible mark on the industry. However, beneath his successes lie a series of tumultuous experiences. Hogan recently shared a chilling account of a near-death encounter in Puerto Rico, shedding light on the hazards and dark undercurrents within the world of wrestling.

Appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Hogan delved into his wrestling journey, unveiling some of the harrowing incidents he faced during his time in the industry. He recounted a pivotal moment in Puerto Rico, where he narrowly escaped a potentially fatal situation, a mere four months before the tragic demise of Bruiser Brody.

Hogan detailed the events following a match in Puerto Rico, where he and Macho Man Randy Savage had just performed to a packed stadium. Upon returning to their hotel rooms, Hogan recounted how he discovered Savage’s room in disarray, a sight that immediately unsettled him. Feeling a sense of unease, Hogan decided to retreat to his own room.

However, the atmosphere took a dire turn when he entered his room and encountered an individual, whom he refrained from naming, seated inside with a gun. This person, still active in the industry, issued a chilling threat to Hogan, vowing to kill him if he ever returned. Faced with this horrifying situation, Hogan made a swift decision to leave Puerto Rico.

Hogan recounted his hasty departure from Puerto Rico, sharing how he raced to the airport and managed to board the last Eastern Airlines flight out of town, eventually making his way to Los Angeles. He had initially intended to return to Tampa but chose to flee the dangerous circumstances he found himself in.

“So I go down to Puerto Rico, and we have the match. We sell out the stadium. Me and Macho Man go back to the room and we go walk in his room, and his room is trashed. All of a sudden, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna go to my room.’ So all of a sudden I go to my room, and, I don’t want to say the guy’s name, but when I opened the door, he’s sitting there, and because he’s still really active, and he’s sitting there with a gun and he said, If you ever come back here, I’m gonna kill you.

I was going back to Tampa. I haul ass to the airport. I got on an Eastern Airlines Flight, the last one out of town and flew to LA. I was supposed to be going home to Tampa. About four months later, Bruiser Brody goes down there has a little argument. The booker calls him into the shower, cuts his throat, and kills him. That’s down there in Puerto Rico.”

Remarkably, Hogan’s recollection of this event is tinged with tragic significance due to what unfolded only months later. Bruiser Brody, another wrestling personality, traveled to Puerto Rico and became embroiled in a dispute. Hogan’s story took a darker turn as he revealed that the booker for the event summoned Brody into the shower and fatally assaulted him, cutting his throat.
