The long-tenured UFC commentator Joe Rogan had previously given Spotify an ultimatum. He has been involved in several controversial matters in the past. He had grabbed the headlines following a series of controversies. He was being accused of spreading misinformation about the virus owing to the pandemic on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, on Spotify.
Amid the several controversies, the company refused to remove all of Joe Rogan’s content though a recent appeal from some musicians and podcasters was noted. However, Spotify tried to find common ground and began removing several JRE episodes. It has been noted that the total number of deleted episodes has reportedly reached 113.
Another alarming issue followed suit over the weekend when a video compilation of him saying the “N-word” on his podcast went viral. Trevor Noah had also bashed Rogan after the infamous video clip that recently started resurfacing. Now, it turns out that once again some episodes of his podcast have gone missing.
Spotify reveals reason for removal of Joe Rogan podcast episodes
An automated tracking tool called ‘JRE Missing‘ listed down the missing episodes on May 25. According to the site, a total of 113 episodes have mysteriously disappeared from the audio streaming platform. Spotify opened up on the incident and claimed that a “technical glitch” was to blame. An unspecified Spotify spokesperson acknowledged the missing episodes and reached out to the Los Angeles Times, saying:
“Spotify is aware of this technical issue, and we are looking into it now.”
The lost editions of the show include interviews with politicians Dan Crenshaw and Tulsi Gabbard, musical artists Post Malone and Everlast, as well as comedians Bryan Callen and Eddie Izzard, among many more. Rogan first signed with the streaming music platform in 2020 for $100 million. With still about a year left to complete the contract, the deal has already since doubled in valuation.
