Mario Barrios Gives ‘Sad Excuse’ For Gerntova Davis Loss

Gervonta Davis had one hell of a performance this past Saturday as he won the WBA (Regular) super lightweight title against now-former Champion Mario Barrios. Davis won the fight after scoring three knockdowns in the eleventh round to topple the previously undefeated Barrios. Gervonta Davis’ paycheck for his fight against Mario Barrios was just recently revealed.

Barrios is definitely not a sore loser though as he congratulated the man called ‘Tank’ on his explosive championship win. However, he did note that he will be back to hopefully face the newly crowned champion for his title once again. Credit to Boxing Scene for the following quotes.

“I’ve never been a hater. Congrats to ‘Tank’,” said Barrios. “He came here and did his thing. It was nothing short of an exciting fight and that’s exactly what both of us predicted. He was the better man tonight, but I’ll definitely be back.

Barrios did state however, what he felt did change the direction of the fight as he later continued by saying: “’Tank’ is explosive. He caught me slipping and it’s boxing. At the end of the day, one punch can change the fight. That’s exactly what I felt happened. Congrats to him.”
