Max Holloway Real Reason For UFC ‘Cancelation’ Leaks

Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes reported that UFC star Max Holloway is set to miss the July 17 match against Yair Rodriguez.

That outlet reported the reason for Holloway’s withdrawal from the match-up is an ‘undisclosed injury’ though interestingly they wouldn’t disclose the injury, and this could be for a reason. The report also noted that the UFC is expected to announce a new main event for the July 17 card in a few days time. Nate Diaz Leaks UFC House Party Drug Video

Why is Max Holloway not disclosing the injury?

ItsDrManhattan said on the MMA Reddit that Max is not disclosing the injury likely to not show a vulnerability.

“Its an undisclosed injury that isnt bad enough to scrap the fight, id bet we wont hear what it is because Yair could just target that body part when they reschedule.”

While, BigDogAlex said:

“Or they might not want to disclose what body part is vulnerable in case his next opponent decided to exploit it?”

It has not been confirmed whether Rodriguez will still have a match on the card with a new opponent or the match with Holloway would be pushed back when he returns.

Holloway last fought earlier this year in January and got a unanimous decision win over Calvin Kattar. That win came after two straight losses to Alex Volkanovski, first being at UFC 245 in December 2019 when he lost his UFC featherweight title.
