Mike Chioda makes AEW debut

WWE released several Superstars and members of staff during April 15th. Among the names was referee Mike Chioda. Now it seems he has found a new promotion to work for.

During this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Mike Chioda made his shocking debut. He officiated Cody’s TNT Title defence against Scorpio Sky. They mentioned how he has 33 years of officiating experience.

The general consensus regarding his WWE departure was that it was due to his veteran status. He was making a good amount of money due to his time in the company, but WWE was focused on budget cuts leading to his release.

The company has been largely criticized for its referees not enforcing the rules. With Chioda now in AEW, we will have to see if they make any improvements.
