Mixed signals from WWE regarding banned moves

WWE has a few moves that they have banned competitors from performing. If these moves are not performed correctly, they can seriously injure a superstar. It seems one move might be making a return.

According to a report by Fightful Select, Matt Riddle and Damian Priest were instructed not to perform a Canadian Destroyer again after doing it at a WWE live event. They apparently did not have clearance for performing it.

It is interesting to note that both Andrade and Rey Mysterio use the Canadian Destroyer frequently on the main roster. It is unknown how it is fine for McMahon, but Kevin Owens is unable to get his old Package Piledriver finisher reinstated.

Kevin Owens has made an effort to pitch the Package Piledriver as his finish “quite often,” but the idea never makes it to Vince McMahon.

It was also said that “several WWE Superstars said they believe certain moves are able to make it through because they don’t have ‘piledriver’ in the name.” A move like the Canadian Destroyer, which is actually a flipping piledriver, gets approved due to it not having the word ‘piledriver.’
