WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently recalled fond memories of working with Paige(now Saraya in AEW) in WWE when she was working with the company.

Booker T opens up on Paige

It has been noted that Paige had been struggling with neck issues over the past few years that had put a halt on her in-ring career. She was under a contract with WWE but she recently announced that she’d soon be ending her long run with WWE. She shocked the wrestling world when she announced that she’ll be leaving WWE in July. It was then revealed that WWE didn’t want to re-sign Paige to a new contract.

On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker spoke about the crowd pop at AEW and Saraya’s joy at being welcomed back after not having wrestled since 2017 due to a neck injury.

“That smile was just radiating through the arena,” Booker said about Saraya. “So yeah, man. I’m glad to see her back. Me personally, Paige has always been one of my favorites. She’s always been that chick, so I’m just glad to see her back.”

Booker recalled that having Saraya as part of the WWE roster was always fun. He said:

“I’m serious, it was like a night off working with Paige,” he continued. “I remember getting her in trouble one night because I told her to introduce me as the ‘OG brother from the hood.’ [She got] so much e-mail [and] social media, people were blowing her up. I actually had to go out and defend her and say, ‘Come on, guys, I told her to say that’. … She wouldn’t have done anything like that. I always had a good time working with Paige.”

Booker commended Saraya’s eagerness to return to wrestling following the painful circumstances that led to her stepping away:

“I’m just glad to see her still chasing that dream,” he said. “Because, man, that’s what this thing is all about.”

The former WWE Divas Champion had made a shocking debut at last night’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. The show saw a  Fatal Four-way match for the Interim AEW Women’s World Championship that featured the reigning champ Toni Storm, Serena Deeb, Athena, and Britt Baker. After Storm successfully retained her title, the former WWE star made her way down to the ring, much to the crowd’s shock. During the post-match segment, Saraya came to the aid of Storm and Athena as the heels were assaulting them.
