Paul Heyman was recently a guest on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show and talked about a myriad of topics.

Heyman was obviously asked about one of his most iconic “clients”, Brock Lesnar. The legendary WWE personality was forthright in his answers (h/t Sportskeeda).

Paul Heyman on WWE status of Brock Lesnar

Heyman confirmed that The Beast Incarnate is no longer under a WWE contract. He is a free agent now.

The following exchange between Heyman and Helwani is from the interview.

Helwani: True or False? Brock Lesnar is still under contract with WWE.

Heyman: False

Helwani: True or False? Brock Lesnar is currently a free agent.

Heyman: True.

On whether The Beast Incarnate will return to UFC

Ever since Lesnar’s free agent status was reported, fans have been wondering if the Beast Incarnate will make a return to MMA. There have been rumors of him fighting Jon Jones and other big names, although UFC President Dana White has waved away any such possibility.

Helwani asked Heyman during the conversation whether Lesnar is likely to fight for UFC again. Heyman said he does not know the answer to that, and no one else does either, because Lesnar does what he wants to do.

“I don’t know. That’s up to you… And here is your soundbyte, Brock Lesnar does whatever Brock Lesnar wants to do, and that’s what Brock Lesnar will do, and if you don’t believe me, go back and find the unedited clip of his promo from UFC 100 because there is no controlling Brock Lesnar and there is no directing or navigating Brock Lesnar’s path.”

Personally, Heyman does not see Lesnar returning to MMA. He gave three reasons to back his opinion.

“No. Number one, I don’t think there is enough money to get him to do it. Number two, I don’t know what would entice him to do so, and number three, when Brock Lesnar came back at UFC 200 and survived being punched in the face by Mark Hunt, and still won the fight, which very few people do after being punched in the face by Mark Hunt. Massive credit to Mark Hunt; I think that itch got scratched.”

Only time will tell if WWE will end up resigning Lesnar or he will change his mind about stepping inside the Octagon.

In the meantime, he continues to be one of the hottest free agents in combat sports. On the other hand, Heyman is keeping busy being the manager of the WWE Universal Champion, the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.
