Randy Orton ruined the storyline between himself, Bray Wyatt, and Alexa Bliss on Raw tonight, and the Royal Rumble last night. Orton’s burns from last week magically disappeared, NoDQ.com owner Aaron Rift pointed out on Twitter.
A Bray Wyatt return is scheduled soon, with a surprising twist, and Orton and WWE creative’s lack of commitment to the continuity of the angle is inexcusable with the time invested into it, and with a WrestleMania match likely being the culmination of it.
Randy Orton originally burned The Fiend at TLC in December, and since then Alexa Bliss has seemingly spoken to his ghost on ‘Alexa’s Playground’ and teased his return. Alexa threw a fireball in Randy’s face a few weeks ago, leading to him wearing a mask and then showing his burn scars when RKO’ing Alexa Bliss.
Tonight on Raw, Alexa Bliss switched between characters during a match with Nikki Cross, which she eventually won. Randy Orton and Edge had a well hyped match, with Orton claiming that Edge will not make it to WrestleMania after his Royal Rumble victory. Edge had opened the show teasing a WWE title match with Drew McIntyre, before Sheamus then turned on McIntyre.
Edge vs. Orton main evented the show, and it was Edge’s first match on Raw since March 28, 2011. It was a back and forth match, and as Orton prepared for an RKO Alexa Bliss appeared behind him, with what appeared to be blood or a liquid coming out of her mouth. This distracted Orton, who was speared by Edge who was victorious. There’s been a lot of creativity put into the Orton/Edge/Bliss angle, but a Bray Wyatt return could have truly been special, and Orton and WWE have sadly ruined the hype by not having any contunity with the burn storyline.
