WWE star Randy Orton is a veteran and has been involved in feuds with some top stars of the company during his illustrious career. The list of stars includes the former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston with whom ‘The Viper’ was entailed in a rivalry back in 2009. It turns out that the feud was nixed after he yelled at Kingston on live television for botching a spot during their match.
Randy Orton was angry with Kofi Kingston
Kofi Kingston planned to get a massive push in 2009 after he impressed Vince Mcmahon with his promo on RAW. However, his match with Randy Orton was lackluster and Orton made his anger known which ultimately nixed the rivalry.
Actor & Former WWE creative team member Freddie Prinze Jr. spoke about the incident, revealing Orton’s outrage with Kingston resulted in him losing his push. Prinze said they had major plans for Kingston, which were approved by WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon and the plans were ready to take off the week he made a major botch:
” In the meantime, ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton and the former WWE champion Kofi Kingston have a match. This is a week later [after the NASCAR segment]. In the match, a spot gets blown. So a spot gets blown and Randy gets pissed on live TV and you see him yell ‘stupid’ with that deep Orton booming voice…so this spot gets blown, meaning the technique, a stunt in the match gets blown. You can tell something doesn’t look good. I don’t know what it is because I don’t see the spot when it happens. I don’t what happened, I just know something is not good, right.”
However, Kofi eventually had some memorable moments in the company and he even captured the WWE title in 2019, having his WWE WrestleMania moment as well.
