Shane Helms on who thought of his ”stand back” catchphrase in WWE

WWE Producer Shane Helms was furloughed by WWE during the April 15th mass exodus, but he was recently hired back.

Fans of the Attitude Era would remember that Shane Helms was known as Hurricane Helms. He won the WWE Tag Team Championships on two separate occasions during his time as Hurricane Helms.

Shane Helms recently commented on a WWE segment which was shown on Twitter. The segment had Kurt Angle, Matt Hardy, and Lita, where Angle and Helms had an argument. It was during this segment that Helms said his signature catchphrase for the first time.

He revealed that Vince McMahon came up with his ”Stand Back” catchphrase.

This was the first time I ever said “There’s a Hurricane coming through.” Shane O’Mac was helping produce the segment and asked me what I was gonna say, I told him the line and he popped, so I kept it. I think it was Vince who suggested the “Stand Back” part for my intro.

It is to be noted that Helms initially pitched the “There’s a Hurricane Coming Through” to Shane McMahon and he accepted it.
