Shane Helms reveals he got heat for trying to sign AJ Styles to WWE in 2002

AJ Styles is one of the top Superstars in all of WWE and has seen a lot of success in the company since 2016. However, it seems he might have become a full-time Superstar much earlier thanks to Hurricane Helms.

Hurricane Helms took to Twitter and commented on a GIF which showed a WWE match between AJ Styles and Helms back in 2002.

In the GIF, AJ Styles could be seen missing a Shooting Star Press and then Helms hitting a Vertebreaker on Styles to pick up the win.

Helms revealed that he did everything in his power in order to get WWE to sign AJ Styles at a time when the company didn’t know about him. Helms added that he got heat for letting AJ Styles do too much.

I did everything in my power to get AJ hired at a time when WWE didn’t know about him. Even got heat for letting an “unknown” do too much. I knew he was good even back then. And now he’s one of the best in the world. Incredible journey.

AJ Styles is currently scheduled to appear in the Royal Rumble match, where he is sure to put on a great performance. We will have to see if The Phenomenal One will be able to win the match this year.
