Shane McMahon who was set to face former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman at the 2021 edition of their Fastlane pay-per-view, allegedly suffered a knee injury during a warmup sparring session with Adam Pearce, which was posted by the official Twitter account for WWE Network. However, this is apparently nothing more than a storyline reason with the true reasoning of this match wanting to be held off until WrestleMania 37. The match preview was removed from the WWE website recently.
On the WWE Fastlane kickoff show, WWE provided an update regarding the condition of Shane McMahon stating that it could not be “confirmed or denied” at the time whether or not Shane McMahon would be able to compete at the Fastlane Pay-Per-View event tonight. While the match appears to look like it’s going to be off due to this injury angle, it can still take place.
In other news regarding Shane McMahon, ‘The Best in the World’s, alleged opponent at the 2021 edition of WWE Fastlane event, Braun Strowman was the victim of criticism of John Cena’s father, John Cena Sr, speaking to Boston Wrestling MWF. The elder Cena stated the following. Credit to Wrestling-World for the below transcription.
“I have nothing but nice words for Shane McMahon, basically I think he’s doing well and he’s been doing it for years, but I repeat, isn’t WWE peeling off of it all? They put Shane McMahon to save Braun Strowman’s character, but in this way you make him look like a donkey.
He continued: “Before he was a giant, he was seen as a killer, he also had an adequate appearance and now they have destroyed him, I see no way to save his role as him,”
